Change Log

Excel users can now use pre-built templates: download a workbook from the Templates page or add a template straight from the Template Library in the Excel add-in. The revamped Templates page also makes it easier to search the library and find templates by platform.

• NEW Excel template downloads. Most templates are now available as Excel workbooks with SheetsFinance formulas. On the Templates page, a template with an Excel version shows Download for Excel next to Copy to Google Sheets. See Pre-built Templates.

• NEW Template Library in the Excel add-in. The Template Library tab lists the templates with an Excel version. Open a template as a new workbook, or add its sheets to the workbook you already have open; sheets whose names clash with existing sheets are renamed automatically.

• CHANGE Templates page. The Templates page adds search and platform controls, so you can find templates by platform and see which ones have Excel versions.

Every function that takes a year now accepts relative periods such as LY and LQ, colon year ranges work the same as dash ranges, calYear aligns to calendar quarters and years, and blank-year quarterly estimates return the next upcoming quarter.

• NEW relative periods in the year argument. "LY" is the latest year with data and "LY-1" the year before, and so on. "LQ" is the latest period the function returns: quarters on quarterly functions, years on annual ones. Ranges use a colon, for example "LY-4:LY", "LQ-7:LQ" or "2020:LY". Estimates and earnings also accept forward offsets such as "LY+1" and "LQ+1". This works on every function that takes a year: statements, ratios, growth, estimates, KPIs, revenue segmentation, owner earnings, earnings, ESG, and insider and analyst functions. • NEW colon year ranges. "2023:2024" now works the same as "2023-2024". Colon ranges must be in quotes.

• CHANGE calYear now aligns to calendar quarters and years. Each fiscal quarter maps to the nearest calendar quarter, and fiscal years ending January to May count as the previous calendar year. Headers keep the same format (Q2-2024, FY-2024) but now mean calendar periods. The Period and Fiscal Year rows still show the company's own fiscal labels. See Key Ratios.

• CHANGE blank-year estimates. A blank year on quarterly estimates now returns the next upcoming quarter. Annual estimates are unchanged and return the next fiscal year. See Analyst Estimates.

SF() gains batching for Financial Scores, and the Account page gains usage history charts that show how your data calls are spent.

• NEW Financial Score batching. Pass a range of symbols into =SF(range, "score", ...) to return Altman's Z-Score, Piotroski F-Score, and the underlying metrics for many companies in one call, with one row per symbol in input order. Batched calls count as 1 data call per 10 symbols, rounded up. Financial Score is not available on Basic; Investor supports up to 2,000 symbols per batch and Analyst and higher support up to 5,000. • NEW Usage History charts on the Account page, under the Usage tab. The charts show calls used by each connection over the last 30 days or 48 hours, with totals, a daily or hourly average, and your busiest day or hour, for all connections together or one at a time. Daily dates are counted in UTC, matching the daily reset, and hours are shown in your local time. See Account and Pricing.

• NEW Brokerage orders date filtering. SF_BROKERAGE() with the "orders" type now returns the last 30 days by default and accepts optional startDate and endDate arguments in the same positions as "transactions", for example =SF_BROKERAGE("My Account","orders","all","2026-09-01","2026-09-30"). See Orders.

SF() and SF_TIMESERIES() gain two new data types for ownership and short interest, the Function Generator gets new selections and layout updates, and the freeFloat metric changes output format.

• NEW ownership and shortInterest data types. SF() returns the latest observation and SF_TIMESERIES() returns date-bounded history. Ownership covers institutional, insider, and undisclosed ownership percentages; short interest covers shares shorted, float shares, and short interest as a percentage of float. Percentages are returned as decimal fractions (0.25 means 25%). See Ownership and Short Interest.

• Ownership and Short Interest added to the Function Generator as SF() types and SF_TIMESERIES() periods, with multi-select metric lists and scale choices (1×, K, M, B) for short-interest share counts.

• Function Generator refresh: secondary settings sit behind collapsible Options sections, start and end dates sit side by side, and option switches show descriptions on hover.

• Breaking: the freeFloat metric in the shares time series now returns a decimal fraction, so a 25% free float returns 0.25 instead of 25. See Historical Shares and Float.

SF() gains two new data types for company KPIs, and most market data functions now support currency conversion and value scaling through the options argument.

• kpis and kpiCatalog return company-specific key performance indicators, both non-GAAP and filed segment data. Every company reports its own KPI set, so kpiCatalog lists the available metric IDs and kpis returns the values, annual or quarterly. Available on the Analyst plan and all commercial plans. • currency=XXX converts monetary metrics to another currency and scale=K|M|B divides large values by thousands, millions, or billions. Both are available for financial statements, company KPIs, and revenue segmentation, with metric-level support in other data types. See Currency conversion and scaling.

• Fixed Excel date referencing bug.

• NEW Financial Statement Updates calendar (financials) in SF_CALENDAR() for Google Sheets and Excel, showing when statements were added to the universe with Symbol, Period, Calendar Year, Period End Date, and Statement Available At.

• Bug fixes for nullish values in Excel.

SF_SCREEN now supports currency-aware screening in Google Sheets and Excel, and we added daily usage tracking to the website and both add-ins.

• NEW screenCurrency=<code> option for SF_SCREEN(). It defaults to USD and controls monetary filter thresholds, monetary ordering, returned monetary values and the currency labels in the output headers. Currency codes are case-insensitive and minor units such as GBp/GBX are normalized correctly.

• NEW Currency selector in both the Google Sheets and Excel Screener generators. It defaults to USD and omits screenCurrency when USD is selected; choosing another currency adds screenCurrency=<code> to the options argument.

• NEW daily SF usage tracking on the website and in both Google Sheets and Excel, showing real-time tier usage per product.

Intraday time-series now supports pre-market and post-market data.

• NEW "extended" option for intra-day time-series (SF_TIMESERIES()) to include pre-market and post-market data. Available for the intra-day intervals "1min", "5min", "15min", "30min", "1hour" and "4hour", and combinable with the other options, e.g. "extended&NH&-".

Time-series can now return historical stock split records.

• NEW "splits" period for SF_TIMESERIES() to return historical stock split records. Metrics include "date", "numerator", "denominator", "splitRatio" and "splitType".

New brokerage connections and holiday-aware end-of-day data.

• NEW brokerage connections - BMO InvestorLine, CIBC Investor's Edge, moomoo, and TD Direct Investing

• Updated historical EOD and EOD batch to handle market holidays and resolve to the latest EOD value prior to the requested date when that date is not a trading day. Prior to this only weekends were automatically handled.

• includeWeekends keeps weekends in the search so crypto and FOREX can return the latest available data on those days.
