Ownership
The ownership data type returns how much of a company is held by institutions, insiders, and undisclosed holders. Use SF() for the latest values and SF_TIMESERIES() with the "ownership" period for date-bounded history.
Latest ownership data
SF() returns the most recent ownership observation. The year argument is ignored for this data type.
=SF(symbol, "ownership", metric, options)symbolis the ticker symbol of the stock (e.g."AAPL"). Use Symbol Search to find the correct ticker symbol.metricselects what to return. Leave blank or use"all"for all metrics, or chain metrics with&, e.g."date&institutionsPercent".optionsadjusts formatting. Available option:"NH"for no header row.
The metric options are:
All (
"all")Date (
"date")Institutional Ownership (
"institutionsPercent")Insider Ownership (
"insidersPercent")Undisclosed Ownership (
"undisclosedPercent")
Ownership percentages are returned as decimal fractions: 0.25 means 25%.
Example - All latest ownership data
=SF("AAPL", "ownership")Historical ownership data
SF_TIMESERIES() returns dated ownership history, newest date first.
=SF_TIMESERIES(symbol, startDate, endDate, "ownership", metrics, options)startDateandendDateare optional dates inYYYY-MM-DDformat. Omit both to return the full available history. Dates in the future are rejected, andendDatemust not be beforestartDate.metricsuses the same options as above and defaults to"all". Chain metrics with&.options:"NH"for no header rows and"-"to reverse the output to oldest first. Combine options with&, e.g."-&NH". When you request a single metric, headers are omitted automatically.
Ownership does not support scale= because its metrics are percentages and dates.

=SF_TIMESERIES("AAPL", "2026-01-01", "2026-09-30", "ownership", "all")This data type returns aggregate ownership percentages. For a list of the individual institutional holders behind those percentages, see Institutional Holders.
