The financial world is full of metrics and ratios, e.g., EPS, EBIT, ROE, P/E, NOPLAT and so on... And whilst a company's reported figures don't vary too much from provider-to-provider these calculated metrics can. The way various providers such as Morningstar, Bloomberg or Yahoo choose to define these metrics can have an impact on the final number. Therefore, we've created a financial formulas page in our documentation which explains the way we define our calculated metrics. As always, if something doesn't stack up, please reach out and let us know.
Yes! We have a Template Library with a range of free templates that you can copy to your own Google Sheets account. These templates cover various use cases, from portfolio tracking to financial analysis. You can also create your own templates and share them with the community. These are currently only available for Google Sheets users, but we are working on bringing templates to Excel in the near future.
SheetsFinance is designed to be fast and efficient, utilising batching, chaining and smart caching techniques to keep your spreadsheets running smoothly. That being said, as your analyses starts to grow it's important to be aware of some best practises to prevent slow downs from bottlenecks, redundant external requests and other (avoidable) issues. That is why we've put together a detailed guide of performance tips to help you get the most out of SheetsFinance. If you continue to experience issues, please reach out to our support team.
We are constantly reviewing and improving our global data delivery network. We source our data through distribution agreements with a number of wholesale market data providers. In the case of US equities, the data is sourced directly from a secure connection to CTA and UTP Feed, and historical financials are collated from SEC filings.
The most common cause of a #REF! or a #SPILL! error is when your sheet doesn't have enough space to display the data returned by a SheetsFinance function. This can happen if you have a formula that returns an array of data, but the cells below it are not empty. To fix this, ensure that the cells below your formula are empty or adjust your formula to return a single value instead of an array.
Thanks for letting us know! Whilst we have a huge selection of financial assets, we may not have the one you're after yet. Just drop us a line in our contact page so we can get it for you and continue to improve the product!
This error can occur from time-to-time in Google Sheets when you first copy a template from our Template Library to your account. This is due to the way Google Sheets handles caching for third-party extensions when copying templates that are running scripts. Don't panic, the issue resolves itself automatically after a short while, so just close the sheet and return to it later. You are still able to use SheetsFinance in any other spreadsheet you own.
Yes, you can connect your brokerage account to Google Sheets and Excel using our brokerage connections feature. Brokerage connections are available as a separate product to our data plans, which includes a 15-day free trial. You can find out more about brokerage connections on our brokerage documentation page.
